Dashen Bank, one of Ethiopia’s pioneering private financial institutions, has officially inaugurated a special expo at its headquarters to commemorate three decades of operations. The event, which celebrates the bank's 30-year journey and its contributions to the Ethiopian economy, was opened by the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Asfaw Alemu.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Asfaw announced that the expo and visual exhibition would run for nine consecutive days, featuring a variety of programs designed to engage the public and honor the bank's history. The CEO emphasized that the event is an opportunity for stakeholders to reflect on the bank's significant role and meaningful impact since its inception.
"Over these nine days, we believe that those participating in the expo will recognize, reflect upon, and appreciate Dashen Bank's 30-year role and meaningful contribution," Mr. Asfaw stated. "They will find themselves becoming part of this historic process."
In addition to the historical displays, the bank has integrated community-focused initiatives into the celebration. These include a 'Ask Us Anything' program specifically tailored for young people and a blood donation drive held under the motto 'Save Lives by Donating Blood.'
Mr. Asfaw took the opportunity to express deep gratitude to the individuals who built the institution. He offered heartfelt thanks to the bank’s former presidents, current and past management teams, and the dedicated employees—both retired and active—who have left their mark on the bank’s growth. He referred to these contributors as the 'pillars of Dashen' and credited their sacrifice, knowledge, and time for the bank's current standing.
Dashen Bank was established in the mid-1990s and has since grown into a dominant force in the Ethiopian banking sector, known for its extensive branch network and leadership in digital banking innovations. The anniversary expo serves as both a look back at these achievements and a platform for future engagement with its customers and the broader public.
