Ethiopian Airlines has officially addressed concerns regarding the impact of global fuel supply disruptions on its operations. Mesfin Tasew, the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, confirmed that despite global aviation challenges caused by regional conflicts in the Gulf, the airline has maintained its full flight schedule without interruptions.
Addressing the media, CEO Mesfin Tasew explained that the global aviation industry is currently facing both fuel shortages and rising costs. However, he noted that the Ethiopian government has proactively secured alternative fuel sources, allowing the airline to continue its operations seamlessly. "The Ethiopian government is sourcing fuel from alternative locations to ensure our flights continue as planned," Mesfin stated.
Regarding the airline's network, the CEO reassured the public that there have been no cancellations. While the airline has optimized fuel consumption and made minor adjustments to some flight routes, all destinations remain fully operational. "There are no suspended flights to any destination; we are continuing to fly to all the places we serve," he confirmed.
Crucially, the airline clarified the situation regarding ticket pricing. While international flights have seen a slight increase in ticket prices due to the global rise in fuel costs—a standard practice adopted by airlines worldwide to manage fuel premiums—domestic flights remain unaffected. The CEO explicitly stated that there has been no price increase for domestic air travel within Ethiopia, and the frequency and scheduling of these flights will continue as normal.
This announcement serves to stabilize public concern regarding potential travel disruptions or increased costs for local passengers during a period of global economic volatility.
