Ethiopian Airlines Resumes Select Middle East Flights Amid Regional Tensions

Latest News

Ethiopian Airlines has officially announced the partial resumption of flight services to several destinations in the Middle East, following a temporary suspension caused by regional instability. The airline, which previously operated over 100 weekly flights to the region, had paused operations to ensure passenger and crew safety as tensions escalated.

During a press briefing, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew confirmed that the carrier is monitoring the situation closely and has begun restoring services to specific locations where conditions have shown signs of improvement.

"We have resumed flights to areas where we see signs of improvement," Tasew stated. "When we suspend flights, we conduct a thorough safety analysis and only resume operations when we are confident that it is safe to do so."

According to the airline, the following daily flight schedules have been reinstated: - Dubai, UAE: One daily flight - Abu Dhabi, UAE: One daily flight - Sharjah, UAE: One daily flight - Dammam, Saudi Arabia: One daily flight - Amman, Jordan: One daily flight

Despite these restorations, the airline confirmed that flights to Doha (Qatar), Bahrain, Kuwait, Tel Aviv, and Beirut remain suspended until further notice.

CEO Mesfin Tasew acknowledged that the suspension of routes to the Middle East and Gulf countries has impacted passenger numbers. However, the airline has mitigated these losses by strengthening its flight frequencies to other international destinations across its global network. The airline continues to evaluate the security landscape in the region and will adjust its flight schedules accordingly as the situation evolves.
