Ethiopian NISS Chief Redwan Hussein Explains Appearance Change After Accident

Latest News

Ambassador Redwan Hussein, the Director General of Ethiopia's National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), has publicly addressed the recent speculation surrounding his changed appearance. His new look, particularly noticeable during a recent review of COP32 preparations, had become a significant topic of discussion across various social media platforms, prompting questions about his well-being.

For some time, Ambassador Redwan had remained silent on the matter, leading to a proliferation of speculative information online. However, today, he shared details about the incident that led to his altered look.

In his statement, Ambassador Redwan recounted, "Two weeks ago, after hosting a meeting discussing national issues and resting for lunch, a wooden partition wall, erected to block wind, lost its balance and fell, hitting me on the crown of my head and slightly further in. Since the laceration needed stitching, doctors partially shaved my head. I, however, thought it would be better to shave it completely and kept it that way until it grew back."

He further added that he found himself quite comfortable with the new look. "When I saw myself bald like in my childhood, I didn't dislike it. Friends even told me it looked good. Encouraged by their comments, I decided to try it out for a bit longer with this new look."

Ambassador Redwan also used the opportunity to reassure the public about his health and whereabouts. "That's what happened. I was treated at Amin Hospital. And so, I didn't travel abroad for treatment or for work. The reason nothing was said initially was with the thought of 'what's new about it?' Anyway, my thanks and respect go out to those who were concerned," he concluded.

His explanation aims to put an end to the rumors and provide clarity regarding his health and the circumstances behind his changed appearance, reaffirming his commitment to his duties within the country.
