Addis Ababa is set to host the largest construction and infrastructure event in Ethiopia this month. The 'Big 5 Construct Ethiopia' trade show is scheduled to take place from April 23 to 25, 2026, at the Addis International Convention Centre (AICC).
This year’s event marks a significant milestone for the regional construction industry, bringing together more than 180 exhibiting companies from over 20 countries. The exhibition serves as a primary hub for professionals, investors, and government officials to explore the latest advancements in building materials, heavy machinery, and urban development solutions.
According to the organizers, attendees can expect to see a wide array of products and technological solutions that have never before been showcased in the Ethiopian market. This influx of international expertise comes at a crucial time as Ethiopia continues to prioritize large-scale infrastructure projects and urban renewal initiatives across its major cities. In recent years, Ethiopia has seen a surge in high-rise developments and transport infrastructure, including the expansion of road networks and industrial parks. The government's focus on economic reform has further emphasized the role of the private sector in driving these developments.
Beyond the exhibition floor, the event will feature over 20 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certified talk sessions. These educational seminars are designed to provide local engineers, architects, and project managers with insights into global best practices, sustainable building techniques, and the latest regulatory standards.
The construction sector remains one of the most dynamic components of Ethiopia's economy. Events like Big 5 Construct Ethiopia facilitate essential networking and partnership opportunities, allowing local firms to form strategic alliances with international partners. These collaborations are often seen as vital for technology transfer and improving the quality of domestic infrastructure projects.
The Addis International Convention Centre, the venue for the three-day event, is expected to see high foot traffic from industry stakeholders looking to capitalize on the networking opportunities promised by the organizers. By hosting international exhibitions of this scale, Addis Ababa reinforces its position as a diplomatic and commercial hub for East Africa, signaling robust interest from the global construction community in the country's long-term economic potential.
